Day 01 –
Rome, Naples / Pompeli / Sorrento
Breakfast in hotel. After leaving Rome (pick up at
06.45), the coach will take the “Sun Route” motorway
driving south through the regions of Lazio and
Campania. Upon arrival in Naples, short panoramic
tour of the city. Arrival in Pompeii, lunch and
visit of the excavations of this Roman city,
destroyed by the eruption of the Vesuvius in 79
A.D.. After visit, continue for Sorrento, famous
summer resort .Dinner and overnight.
Day 02 –
Sorrento
Breakfast. Car, driver and local
guide at disposal for 8 hrs to visit Sorrento. Small
city in Campania . It is a popular tourist
destination. The town can be reached easily from
Naples and Pompeii, as it lies at the south-eastern
end of the Circumvesuviana rail line. The town
overlooks the bay of Naples, as the key place of the
Sorrentine Peninsula, and many viewpoinights in the
city allow sight of Naples itself (visible across
the bay) and Vesuvius. Sorrento's sea cliffs are
impressive and its luxury hotels have attracted
famous personalities including Enrico Caruso and
Luciano Pavarotti. Famous for the production of
Limoncello, an alcoholic digest if made from lemon
rinds, alcohol, water and sugar. Other agricultural
production includes citrus fruit, wine, nuts and
olives. Wood craftsmanship is also developed.
Sorrento was the birthplace of the poet Torquato
Tasso (1544-1595), author of the Gerusalemme
LiberataFree day to explore the old quarter of this
town, the Cathedral and the Corso Italia ,the main
street of the Peninsula and the Piazza Tasso with
its outdoor cafe’s. Overnight in hotel.
Day 03 –
Sorrento / Positano
Breakfast. Transfer to Positano. Positano is a small
town on the Amalfi Coast (Costiera Amalfitana), in
Campania, Italy. The main part of the city sits in
an enclave in the hills leading down to the coast.
Positano was a prosperous port of the Amalfi
Republic in the 16th and 17th centuries. But by the
mid-19th century, the town had fallen on hard times.
More than half the population emigrated, mostly to
the United States of America. Today tourism is the
major industry in Positano. Today, Positano is
considered one of the most chic destinations in
Europe. Two of its hotels, Il San Pietro and Le
Sirenuse, are frequently cited as among the best in
the world. Overnight stay.
Day 04 –
Positano
Breakfast. Car, driver and local
guide at disposal for 8 hrs to visit: The church of
Santa Maria Assunta features a dome made of majolica
tiles as well as a 13th Byzantine century icon of a
black Madonna. According to local legend, the icon
had been stolen from Byzantium and was being
transported by pirates across the Mediterranean. A
terrible storm had blown up in the waters opposite
Positano and the frightened sailors heard a voice on
board saying "Posa, posa!" ("Put down! Put down!").
The precious icon was unloaded and carried to the
fishing village and the storm abated. Overnight.
Day 05 -
Positano / Capri
Breakfast at
hotel. At desired time transfer to Capri by boat.
Arrival.Capri is an island off the
Sorrentine Peninsula. On the south
side of the
Gulf of Naples, it has been a celebrated
beauty spot and resort since the time of the
Roman Republic. The City of
Capri is the main centre of population on
Capri. It has two adjoining harbours, Marina
Piccola and Marina Grande (the main port
of the island). The separate commune of
Anacapri is located high on the hills to
the west. The name of the island comes from the
Italian word for
goat. In the 1950s, Capri became a
popular destination for the international
jet set. Transfer to hotel. Overnight
stay.
Day 06 -
Capri
Breakfast at hotel.
Visit to explore this beautiful island that has been
also been renamed the “Garden of Eden”, where the
sun is always shining. The central piazzetta of
Capri, though preserving its modest village
architecture, is lined with luxury boutiques,
restauranights, and paparazzi chasing celebrities.
The main features of the island are regularly
portrayed on postcards: the Marina Piccola (Small
Harbor), the Belvedere of Tragara, which is a high
panoramic promenade lined with villas, the limestone
masses that stand out of the sea the Faraglioni,
Anacapri, the Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra), and the
ruins of the Imperial Roman villas. Overnight stay.
Day 07 -
Capri / Naples
Breakfast in
hotel. At the requested hour transfer to Naples, the
3 rd largest city of Italy after Rome and Milan,
situated along a lovely Bay, a horizon bounded by
Posillipo, the islands, the Sorrento Penisinsula and
Mount Vesuvius which all have contributed to the
fame of this city. End of our services.
